It has been a miscellaneous day. The women two tables to my right are discussing the subjunctive as it applies to Spanish. One is a TA, the other, I suspect, an undie.
I had to drive slowly, in a low gear but too fast for that gear, in the winter in my mid-70s Bug. Air-cooled engine with “the heater” heated by the excess engine heat. Okay, too much extraneous detail. In any case, when it was below zero the only way not to freeze when driving that car was to run the engine inefficiently.
Today we got above freezing for the first time in weeks, probably close to a month.
Now the snow and ice melt, but they'll freeze again. Soon.
Regarding matters antediluvian (a great band name, by the way) ...
For those who do not want to read the text, Sintflut as Sündflut or “sin-flood” is a reinterpretation and shift in meaning, the sin[t]- being from a Germanic root for “everywhere” or “always.”

Last night I rewatched a season 4 episode of Alias, which guest-starred Kelly Macdonald (a.k.a. jailbait from Trainspotting), and I caught a joke I'd missed the other time or two I'd watched it, when she mentioned liking Vaughan's cologne, Glenlivet—he'd supposedly been in a bar fight.
Upon hearing it this time: Duh.
Angela recommended Being There (1979), Harold and Maude (1971), and Everything's Illuminated. I'll find a fourth (Devil's Backbone?) and use a two-for-one coupon from/for 4-Star.
Briefly to music.
Sure, it's a romantic-era piece, but my favorite recording is by Belgian Baroque-specialist Philippe Herreweghe. Oh ISG is it sublimely gorgeous.
Our college choir performed it my freshman year; that's when I was introduced to it.
