St Johns, to be painfully accurate So, what are your interests? You sounded like a reader. and/or writer I don't think they have actual requirements for being a reader...or at least, no one informed me. So, who/what do you like to read? what are you taking in school? Wow...that's quite a degree you are getting there. Most guys read sci-fi, ,in my estimation. The only fantasy/sci-fi author I ever liked is Sharon Shinn. I am a phsycotic reader, myself. I read anything I can get my hands on, but lately I have been doing the classics for my degree..in English and religion. So what are you planning to do with that degree? I relate well, I am planning on teaching(before my great bestseller of course). Up here all of the baby boomers will retire soon and it will be wide open. no, not one bestseller, but I am trying to set my sights low, for now:). actually, so that I wont be too crushed if I never get published...no, seriously, yeah, I figure I am arrogant enough as it is when it comes to my writing, so I try to not be too confident. I figure, it doesnt necessarily depend on my writing, but who I am willing to make a deal with to get ahead.:) Well, everything and anything, depending on my mood. I am writing a novel at the moment(70,000wds, so far) and it is about a schizophrenic guy and his cousin who is forced to be his legal guardian, and how she has a love/hate relationship with him, and blah blah blah..she ends up seeing his hallucinations and painting them. I write alot of poetry, alot of drama, which ends up being horrific. Honestly? I could not tell you. I found a paragraph I had written somewhere, and it sounded good, so i started writing, and then all of a sudden there were all these characteres begging me to write them down. I am interested in schizophrenia, and mental illnesses because it fascinates me that someone can live in our world, and yet see it in such a bizarre way. For instance, alot of schizophrenics do not see the same colours that we do. tried to...that's the worst part of writing. If you use creative liscense, eventually you get nailed for it. Yeah, true. Whenever I think "this can't possibly happen" in regards to the realism of my novel, I think about Stephen King and the fact that he has suspended belief on some pretty wierd and bizarre stuff, and yet he is such a good storyteller, that no one ever complains. Someone once said to me that he is a storyteller, not a writer. They were basically doing the typical University student superiority critic...saying that he didn't use many literary devices, and things, but I think the true definition of a writer is simply someone who for a certain period of time, can bring you somewhere else in your imagination that you have never been, and maybe help you to perceive your reality a little clearer because of it. He just totally plays with my emotions. I read It on the subway, and was still terrified. By the way, have you heard of the "band" VAST(Visual Audio Sensory Theatre)? they arent very popular, but they were reccommended to me recently, and I am listening to them right now, and they are really amazing. Wierd, but amazing. Well, have you ever seen those "Through the Mind's Eye" videos..I think they used to show them on YTV. they were sort of a Fantasia type thing, with music playing, kind of techno, and then classical, and they had images to go with the music? Well, this group does the same type of work, but they include lyrics. The lyrics are strange. Very wierd, but....they ar like Tea Party, but.....more music based rather than lyric based. No idea. I admit my ignorance...Canada i think. But that would have been dishonest:). Then you may have gone to this store, and those people at these music stores are ppretty intimidating anyhow, with their techno clothes and strange hair, and you would have asked for that band Vast from say, New Orleans, and they would have looked at you really strange...and then you would have felt stupid.... *s* So, what University do you go to? gee, I am sure I could have figured that out for myself had I tried. unless maybe they were offering it to you over the Internet or something. Well, the States are kind of like another world to me as of yet.....I know Europe, and all of Canada, but the States is not....well, I shouldn't admit this. well, I have been to Washington. But the only part of the States..parts, actually, that I would love to go to are New Orleans(Ann Rice, Poppy.Z.Brite, type of thing) and Arizona....don't ask why, I dont know. yes...that is a big plus with me! Oh, strange question, but have you ever been to Cuba? Oh, I went this summer, and it was such an amazing experience I keep trying to find people who have been there. How was Spain? --------------------------------------
